Re: State of the Specs (June 29, pre-Mythic HFC)
If Frost is close to Arcane in damage, would there be a benefit in switching to Frost for low-target fights, given that in general, Frost is more movement-friendly? (Ice Lance procs allow movement, whereas Arcane doesn't really have a frequent move-and-use ability). I'm also wondering, due to the fa...

Re: Fire mage guide for 6.2 by Dutchmagoz!
Updated for 6.2! Dutch - I don't suppose you'd be willing to put in a "summary of 6.2 changes and how it affects fire" in your guide? I'm not familiar enough with it to pick out the subtle changes. I'm also really surprised that Frost will become a viable high-tier raid spec... but if it's true tha...

Re: Fire mage guide for raiding by Dutchmagoz! [updated for
Thanks for the math correction. I guess I wasn't thinking it through, but I'm glad I showed my math and that you guys explained what was wrong with it... and were even polite about it! I love these forums... Komma - your explanation about the "set up time" for Combustion really made sense to me, and...

Re: Fire mage guide for raiding by Dutchmagoz! [updated for
I feel like my question-statement was misunderstood. When you spec Kindling, you're getting 1s off the CD of Combustion with every direct crit, meaning that 10 crits = 30s CD on Unglyphed Combustion. However, if you had Glyphed Combustion, I'm assuming (not tested) that your Combustion CD would be 9...

Re: Fire mage guide for raiding by Dutchmagoz! [updated for
I've been getting pretty terrible results with Meteor so far in BRF. Even before I had my 2pc I was getting better mileage out of PC/Kindling, with 2pc PC became godlike. Speaking of Kindling, is it better to leave Combustion unglyphed if you're using Kindling? I'm thinking that it is, since a doub...

Re: How big should my Ignites be?
Xenost - thank you. I thought I knew what I was talking about, but the idea of the cooldown after Pyro! instant confused me, I guess. So, I guess I do have a point about having to /Stopcast Fireball to maintain the Pyro! + Heating Up! procs when preparing to cast Meteor. Otherwise, your next Firebal...

Dragon's Breath
Does anyone use Dragon's Breath in their rotation? (Glyphed is 172% spellpower). Maybe only for 3+ targets?
Is it insane to get close enough to use it on cooldown?

Re: How big should my Ignites be?
For talents, I noticed you had blast wave and meteor picked up. Blast wave is paired best with Prismatic crystal, so I would suggest either dropping blast wave for one of the other two talents (fight depending). Or picking up prismatic crystal to pair with it. <snip> (I have far less experience usi...

Re: How big should my Ignites be?
Ah, you're right. I understand now. I wasn't thinking, sorry.
I suppose one could also stand closer (or "as close as possible") to decrease the feedback loop on procs, but yet just far enough away to be able to cast an instant while a Fireball was still in the air.

Does anyone use Kindling?
Just wondering if any of the Mythic Fire Mages is making use of Kindling as a talent...
I'm curious about when it becomes a viable talent, and when one would use it.
Of course, the answer might be: it sucks, don't ever use it... heh.

Re: Fire Trinkets
Ah. I vaguely remember that, but I was a tank back then, and then I went healer, so DPS-trinket-popping wasn't a thing for me until recently. I shadowpriest'ed a bit, but never ended up with two on-use trinkets equipped at the same time, I guess...

Re: How big should my Ignites be?
What's the difference between waiting the half-second and using /stopcasting Meteor? Basically, by waiting you're missing 0.5s of your next Fireball cast?

Re: How big should my Ignites be?
To be honest, I haven't seen any situation where stopping a cast is justified. I just fireball+pyro until a point where I feel confident I won't munch. and you're casting another Fireball My solution is to avoid this part right here. After Fireball+Pyro, you have 1 GCD to react to whether both of t...

Re: How big should my Ignites be?
On Fireball /stopcasting to cast Meteor... One question remains: when you have a Pyro! proc active, your last Fireball is in the air, and you're casting another Fireball, not knowing if you'll get a Heating Up! proc from the Fireball that's in the air... do you /stopcast the current Fireball to cast...

Re: Meteor > PC
On Wilderness' last comment: Also, PC isn't the best single-target option. Meteor is better than PC on single and multi-target. BW is the best single-target choice of that tier, LB pulls slightly ahead on 2 targets, and really pulls away at 3+ Does that mean that spec'ing PC is always a mistake, and...

Re: How big should my Ignites be?
So in this sequence... ( commentary/explanation in blue ): 1) Cast Fireball until you have both Pyro! and Heating Up! proc'ed 2) Cast Meteor 3) Cast Fireball *** waiting for Meteor to land - this Fireball fuels the start of the upcoming large Ignite*** 4) Cast Pyroblast (instant) *** Fireball and Py...

Re: How big should my Ignites be?
Zesta - thanks for your post. I wasn't 100% clear on your terminology, but lemme see if I've got this right: "Combustion" rotation: 1) Cast Fireball until you have both Pyro! and Heating Up! proc'ed 2) Cast Meteor 3) Cast Pyroblast (instant) a) If Pyro crits, you should have another Pyro! proc from ...

That's a good suggestion, Frosted, with the incremental iLvl increase. I just don't know if I have that much time to run that many Sims...
However, I guess that's the only way to really know, otherwise it's just conjecture.

Ah. Thanks. I took a 3.5 year break, so they must have changed that at some point.
Can you still have an "on equip" trinket proc and then still activate your "on use"?
