It's totally viable, there's really no reason you can't. If you're looking to min/max however, what I personally do (and a lot of other fire mages do) is get your hast about as low as you can tolerate and then just pump mastery. That build is slightly more difficult to play however, and really shows...

This may be slightly off topic, but why do the top parsing Chinese players always use some extravagant build like a 5k haste fire mage or a pure haste arcane mage or something like that? That Mirror Image slip-up was an accident unfortunately. I used that right as I started my hardcast pyro for the pull but I guess one overrode the other, and I didn't notice until about a minute in. It doesn't benefit from trinket procs does it?
