Arcane Blast cast help

Seeking for some help here.

Trying to improve my dps, and I found one issue, which is I find I cast too little AB compared to others.

On 1st boss, assault, below is my log and I only did 64K.

I searched for a few logs in the ranking and found the below few with similar ilvl (715), similar boss kill times.

I have done 62 AB, but they have done 80/90ish. Even the other mage in my raid team, who has lower ilvl, and still learning the class, did very well @ 99 AB cast.

On Iron Reaver, again my log below and I did 59K and 63 AB.
Searching for similar ilvl and duration mage in WCL, I get the few below:

They did about 10 more AB than me.

My ping is about 100ms, it may be a factor but I suspect it still doesn't add up. I tried to blink, ice floes, ABC, yet I am doing lower AB count, which really puzzles me. What am I doing wrong?

Obviously, I could be doing right with the AB but screw up others which caused the low DPS. In this case, do help to point out where I screw up...

The number of Arcane Blasts that you do is not an indication of playing well (or not playing well) it is the number of Arcane Blasts that you do at 4 x AC without casting them below 93% mana unless you are burning. Just going through your logs for other fights (Assault is not really suited for Arcane Mages) I can see you are either not burning often enough or if you do, you generally aren't burning low enough. You haven't linked your Armory so I can't see if you have the class trinket or not but even so a lot of your burns are only going to 60-70% mark.

If you are worried about your ping, there are addons available that will highlight a section in your castbar that show when it is safe to press the button for your next spell so that you cast your next spell as soon as your current cast finishes so there is no down time but you don't cut short your existing spell.

Unless MoD procs, I always try to stay around 90% mana, sometimes I am staying at 80ish. I do try to stay around 93% but because of moving etc, I find myself capped a lot, which is why I tuned to 90%. I am only burning to 60/70% because at times there are a lot AM proc and I am worried about delaying Evoc too long causing out of sync for next burn. Also, I am trying to evoc 1 tick to get back to 90% mana, when I burn to 50%, 1 tick gives me around 80% only. I do use Quartz for casting.

All fair points but if you are worried about your burn taking too long, just stop using AM at 65-70% unless you get to 3 x AM and that should make sure you don't burn for too long. Also, don't be afraid to burn deeper, the damage you do there cancels out the damage lost by the extra time casting Evo. If you look at the results below, you are losing out on around 2k DPS by doing shallow burns.

You want a 2 tick evo; the first tick happens instantly, but you have GCD so you can't cast again anyway. Interrupting after second tick is better because you can start next spell instead of waiting for GCD to finish. I'm fairly certain this is the primary reason for burning below 50% being a gain. At my haste level I can burn below 40% and 2 ticks still puts me around ~95%.
