Hey guys.
I was just wondering how you use RoP correctly as Arcane when you're in the Conserve Phase. Do you just do the usual Conserve rotation or are you supposed to do a mini burn phase?
Thanks!
@TheHeretic91,
Hello there! So, RoP is one of those spells that are used at very specific points during the burn phase, but in the conserve it's more freedom to use it on cooldown basically.
Essentially, (with the current consensus), there's actually a different style of play so it's not just Burn > Conserve > Repeat, but that's not for right now.
When you're in that phase right after you burn, the ideal setting would be to never have 2 full charges of Rune of Power. You'd want to at least have used 1 of the 2 when you know you're gonna land a nice hit.
So, to expand:
- End of Burn Evocation Completes
- Continue casting down to 60-80% mana range (your choice)
- Go into a Throttle Conservation Phase where you cast just enough to keep Quickening up & to refresh your NT or use Supernova
- Quickening Greater than 3 Seconds? --> (RoP if you want) NT Refresh, Supernova, MoA with RoP
- Quickening Less than 3 Seconds? --> AM > AB/AE to refresh
The long and short is, try to use RoP to empower your NT, Supernova, or MoA (preferred to combo with MoA).
I hope that this helps a bit and isn't too complex. You can check out my arcane mage guide post over on the Arcane sub section. There's a large discussion that's been ongoing about how best to play the arcane mage and when things should be popped and used.
Let me know if this was helpful, or if you need me to slice it down to size
