I figured this would have been in one of the fire guides but I couldn't seem to find it. Which gems do you guys use? It seems to me that the 150 crit gem is better than the 200 int gem. What gems are the best? and if you can only use one gem would you use 150 crit or 200 int?

For the 150 crit gem to be better than a 200 intellect gem your critical strike has to have a stat weight of over 1.34 to be better than 200 intellect. Because 150*1.34 = 201, and 200*1=200.

For when I was simming my mage I never got crit to be better than 1.33. But crit gems are a lot cheaper so generally I go with them anyways. But yeah the intellect gems should be better than crit, unless your critical strike rating is very low.

My stat weights right now are Crit: 10.81 and INT 8.71, so that's a difference of 2.1, so if i'm reading that right Crit is better in this case

Crit: 10.81 x 150 = 1621.5
Int: 8.71 x 200 = 1742

So no, the crit gem is not better.

You can only use 1 Int Gem anyway.

Rule of thumb for fire mages.

1x 200 intellect gem
rest all crit gems

Fire spec? Fire spec I guess. 200 int is slightly better than crit last time I checked. It was such a low difference though that it wouldn't matter much. A raid leader should not care if a fire mage uses only crit gems.
