Does anyone have any idea what path they are taking for 7.2?

u get 36 traits then:
Icy veins > brain freeze proc > flurry dmg > Ice lance crit dmg > ice lance frozen target dmg > frostbolt dmg

thats for single target.
for aoe idk i go fire

This path is very different from what is simming highest for me and the mages I talked to.
First three should go to LiG, CoT and IA, then the new traits should follow.

And that is with bracers, which make OL better than it is without them.

Ya your toons almost certainly have legendaries/are not wearing the default M NH profiles (and possibly are even using double IL/LVG APLs) which makes them vastly different than what was simmed.



TL:DR Read the document it's pretty clear

I didn't say the document is unclear. What I'm saying is that nobody I talked to sims OL as highest. While it is not exactly a scientific proof, it is meant to emphasize the need to sim your own character.

Nobody in this forum is wearing default NH profile gear with no legendaries. Seeing as the potential mistake costs hundreds of millions of AP to "catch up", it is a pretty big deal for minmaxers.

To give people an idea what kind of a difference I am talking about:



40 traits will be obtained before 1st 7.2 raid. 42 traits will be obtained within 1st reset by many players.
My legendaries are the quite common bracers+shard, 400 seconds +/- 10%, skill good. Default settings are ~100k higher across the board.

Glacial Eruption is clearly not taken into consideration by the sim (todays nightly build).

Is there any guide somewhere where I can sim this on my own? I'm a noob to simming. Or will this cookie cutter path work for 90% of players? His sim shows a 50k difference thats the only reason I ask. Thank you for the hard work putting that guide together Z!

If you can use simcraft at all, just go to "simulate" tab and at the end of your profile/apl add this
P.S. Using double IL APL changed nothing except bumping the results by around 30k. Order remains the same.

Thanks I'll sim that tonight fast before I dump my points in before raid. I imagine its slightly different for everyone. I'll sim without the double IL, but I am able to pull off double IL consistently (except on krosus lol (( ) so thats good to know.

I had 54 points in my frost weapon to start with. I run LW TV build tuned for M+. So when I unlocked the ability to upgrade I started with Frosted's updated artifact results from the main thread in the frost section. Tirisgarde, Clarity, LiG, Veins. Mainly because I didn't bother updating SimCraft or running my own.

Today I upgraded SimCraft and ran my own sims for the remaining ones, and included OL in levels 1-4. This was run using patchwerk. For my next point it looks like putting it into Ice Age, and then fully build OL before going back for Icy Caress.
Your mileage may vary. Here is the SimCraft code to check the new points on the Frost weapon. Copy below your gear section in SimCraft and update the copy="" text to match what is at the top of your imported data.

What do I add to my sim if I want to check what artifact trait to get next? I'm currently at 43 going the OBL4 - Blizz(orb talent) > Glacial eruption. I got Let it go for my 43rd trait.

Use the strings I posted. Then remove the ones you already have (OBL, bliz, ge), and add in the ones you don't have that I didn't share since I had already collected those points.
