Depends on haste. It is indeed a trackable debuff on the target.
The debuff duration does not change based on haste. If it did, Double IL would be a LOT harder to pull off.

The debuff lasts ~1.6 second

I think the only thing that changes it is anomaly time. Also elisande and guldan speedups make it incredibly easy to doubleicelance. I can do it 100% of time with only the buff and icyveins and I have 20% haste with the chronomatic mythic trinket

I wish they wouldn't fix it. I get that it's not exactly intended, but I don't even have to use custom lag tolerance to do this 100% of the time as long as i'm under the effects of IV and Heroism. I've got 35 ping.


I just see it as a cool rotational change when heroism is popped rather than some kind of gamebreaking exploit.

It's nice actually being able to compete with the fury warrior in my guild for once.

The problem is that the spec as a whole and especially double ice lance is too latency reliant. When servers give 13ms one day then 250ms and 800ms the next and you can parse at 850k with 13ms but only 550k with 250ms something needs to be fixed

Frost's performance with double IL is quite strong, so I hope they just incorporate it in Brain Freeze - remove the latency/haste trick, but make both icelances shatter and keep counting to TV. The only problem in this case might be munching too much FOF but they can find an elegant solution.

Actually the larger problem is that if they make double ice lancing as something you can just do all the time, they open it up to making the problem worse when someone is under IV and BL. On top of the fact that double ice lance would also let people approach infinite IV uptime and they've already explained they don't want that to be a thing.

Being able to double ice lance doesn't change the numbers that dramatically though. A closer analogy would be more like 850k to 750k (also factoring in latency affecting general performance).

actually at just over 250ms many of the FIRST ice lances don't crit so you don't do 750k at all it drops to at least 650 mostly below 600.. and most flurries won't shatter either

EU servers, 39 ms, 100 lag tolerance, at 139% haste double IL is working fine.
edit: anything above 125% haste works for me at around 20 yards max. Note a lot of bosses had their hitboxes updated and you need to adjust to land the 2nd lance.

So as i see:

Latency with mod to ~200ms raised

Brainfreeze procc > 15m away casting fb > flurry > il > running forward while casting next il

Or do ya completly shit on the fb crit after flurry?

Atm@20% haste, i do have syphuz behind to get 2%additional haste, 885metronom, unfortunatley no whisper

20% is pretty unoptimized unless you are below 885ilvl. Check the haste breakpoints on the first page, and slap haste food on top of that to be sure.

many of the FIRST ice lances don't crit
I'm experiencing this too.

But also even if I'm not double icelancing and just using one after a flurry from a distance sometimes it seems to hit too early or something and doesn't get the benefit of winter's chill.

yeah it means my dps swings wildly depending on how my internet feels that day and what server i'm shoved on... doesn't feel good when fire is no longer a choice at all but at least in that spec I lose 50k dps max

The new input tolerance system is giving me troubles. What are the new standard Double IL ms? I run at 240ms atm. (200ms + 40ms home) which was supposed to be the same as pre 7.2 ...

Yeah I'm not sure either. I used to be able to get it to work 100% of the time standing a few yards out from the boss, but now I have to stand inside of the boss for it to work. Using Nythendra as an example, I found I have to stand in between her front legs underneath her to reliably hit both IL every time.
