Sindragosa vs Magtheridon's

Raidbots is favoring Sindragosa helm over Magtheridon bracers for me (with Shard being 2nd lego), but warcraft log review for frost mages in my ilvl bracket shows Magtheridon's + Shard being used. I want to trust the sim but I also want to trust the logs.... looking for some insight. Thanks!

Here is a sim I did of my character with the highest dps sets I have for wrist/ring and helm/ring:

Wrist/ring typically sims higher for most people since they can be used alongside both the tier 20 2 set bonus and the tier 21 4 set bonus. I suspect that the reason helm/ring is simming higher for you is either due to you having low ilvl tier 20 or not having tier 20 at all, although I would have to see the sims you ran to be sure.

I would trust my character's sims over someone's logs in most cases since everyone has different gear available to them, especially in lower ilvl brackets.

Even when I changed it to nightly (the above is for weekly), helm/ring still came out ahead.

I asked about this on mage discord as well and the conclusion is that my t20 ilvl is too low. It was still suggested that I use the bracer/ring over helm/ring, but I'm going to do some target dummy practice tonight and see what numbers I get. I think if it was a minimal dps difference, say 5k, I'd go with bracer/ring, but 22k (in helm's favor, 4-t21 0-t20) is too significant for me to ignore.

I cant speak on if the bracer ring works better than the helm, but I can say that doing my sim tests between my 2pc t20 and 40ilvl upgrade replacement parts sims 1,815,000 and 1,820,000 respectivly, but in reality that boost from frozen orb in a race to 500mill damage on dummy yielded a larger discrepancy.

To me these numbers say if I squeeze every last second out of orb for dumping full stack chain reaction lances I get better results.

I have exact the same question, seeing a 1.89 M / 1.91 M = a small, 0.8% dps loss. (2pc's are 925/930, my average ilvl 956 - 959.) Heroic ToS gear is 915+, making me doubt that more heroics is sensible for myself. And mythic raids, not sure I can find groups to do that.

Also, I guess this was Blizzard's intention, in effect a soft nerf on the legendary bracers. The whole difference is that Sindragosa eats up a tier slot, so Magtheridon alone was never really that powerful, rather, it was the gaming of an extra slot enabling the 2pc + 4pc combo. But after a high enough ilvl, that advantage/tradeoff starts to decay. Maybe??

PS. Also, I'm surprised Magtheridon's doesn't alter rotation. I'd have though there's benefit to managing ice lances to maximize the proc stacks?

Use logs or sims to get an idea but decide based on instinct. While SFoS might sim well on patchwerk the value of t20 increases drastically if you can start reducing the cooldown of your frozen orb so don't completely reject using your t20 only because it might sim worse. Also keep in mind that downtime favors t20 over SFoS since you can't build charges during downtime but your frozen orb cools down even if you do nothing.

I think the reason why it is simming higher is your stats. What is your crit% and hast%e with ring/bracers and with ring/helm?
