Low damage raiding

Hello everyone !

First of all, i'm not the mage who needs help but i really wants to help him improving and understanding what he is doing wrong. I'm an officer in our guild on the EU server "Hyjal".
Lately, i recruited "Elleron" and his performance in raid is very low, we talked together but he can't find what is wrong in his rotation and me neither (i'm totally a noob to this spec). That's why i come here to mend your help. If someone could look into logs and tell me why he is struggling it would be great !

In my opinion, one of the problems is that he gives too much importance to strats (like going super away from aoe and totally stop casting during certain phases) causing a huge loss of dps.

First is he a venthyr or not, is he using the legs legendaries or not, second of all I can't really figure where he goes wrong probably his stats are bad, at first I thought frost was a really bad spec since everyone is saying that but when I hit 60 and started raiding and m+ turns out am usually topping my dungeon meters even VS meta specs in guild raid am usually top 2 if not 1 even when I was 186 ilvl at my first raid I was top 2-3 VS our guldies who are between 200-210 and not just the cleave fights the spec competes very well in ST and am not that great at all at utilizing my ui and macros and keybinds are missed up am still doing good, all am saying is the issue is not with the spec or something specific he just needs to dedicate more to the class or just reroll something else if he still can't figure it out cuz with such low dps he probably has no clue, also I my self use incanters flow instead of rune of power its less punishment and won't even make a noticeable difference if you don't utilize the rune very well.

Well after checking his armory he got really good trinkets and nice amount of crit, but he seems to have very low haste, so he probably just needs better gear, priority stats are intellect >crit(33.4%)>vers >mastery which for some reason he has it very high, tell him yes intellect is the highest priority but you wont equip a +5 or even +10 ilvl item wich has mastery and vers instead of your lower ilvl item wich has crit and haste unless maybe it's a weapon or something, but yeah his haste is really low, here is my armory

I thought about his amount of haste too but didn't imagine that it could diminish his dps that way. It's true that he could use the flow since rune can punish you cause of bad timings. I'll talk to him about that.

the higher parse got off 81 frost bolts and 70 ice lances. your guy got off 46 frost lance bolts and 23 ice lances.

I'll have to disagree with the above based off the log provided. Gear isn't his issue the big factor is his mechanics.

I plugged into wowanalyzer. The number 1 mechanic wise issue is his shatter. Need to get in the habit of frostbolting into flurry into 2x ice lance. Stop cancelling spells as well will help. Also being prepared with proper enchants and consumables will go a long way to
