No conclusions or anything here. Need some reliable ET%'s to math it out.

However, this is basically the best gear profile for frost based off hitting 19.3k breakpoint then getting about 19k mastery as well. It's pitted against my scary (nobody is reacting to it well) idea of breaking 2pc and going for the maximum LB breakpoint of 28.4k.

Honestly, I think we're just seeing more of the same trends. No matter at what point we analyze, haste and mastery do consistent tradeoffs. It's sensitive to the ET%'s and I still don't think anyone is going to find a true answer.

I'm breaking 2pc and going max haste because I'm Akraen, no other reason really.

I was in a flex run the other day rocking like 16k haste affter reading the thread about trying different reforging. I was then kicked from the flex because I was a bad player for wasting haste. I pointed them to this forum and IV and then was laughed at. I find it funny that other classes do not understand that there are mages out there that are trying to get every last little bit from their gear and spec.

I was doing more damage with the monster haste build. and I think I want to go back to be other be damned.

"wrong" probably isn't the right word for the Frost APL. Most def incomplete though.

Results:

Your profile"439k+/-352 dps
My profile (nowhere near as well geared): 455k+/- 421

I'd have to go through the APL a bit more, but at a really quick glance it doesn't look like it's even 2pc holding an FoF charge, so the difference is probably larger (unless I'm just misreading it and it is doing it)

I'd need it to be a 40-50k dps gap before I'd say 28k isn't worth it because of the other benefits.

What other benefits? It's a significant DPS loss, even without the 2pc being in play.

Maybe I'll have some time tonight to add better 2pc camping into play to the frost APL. Lately I've been getting home right as raid starts though >.<

Because fights in SoO, particularly the tougher ones, are not single target and involve a lot of stutter casting and in cases like Thok, extra procs are godly. By all means, quantify those if you can - but a sim output isn't going to show them.

You can get an idea by applying latency and using the movement models. I'll run them now.

I wasn't aware SoO fights involved stutter casting since that can be almost entirely avoided with either ice floes or better positioning.

NT multidotting as frost really only applies to protectors and galakras at the current gear level (nazgrim and spoils adds die too fast) and frost NT is weeeeeaaak, plus you lose a ton of procs with NT ticks occuring so frequently if you were to stack wacky amounts of haste.

Fire doesn't multidot NT and frost shouldn't either. Mage sims aren't terribly accurate, but stacking haste is going to continue to produce inferior results as you go beyond reason with it. What is worse is people trying to follow the example of haste stacking and then wondering why their DPS sucks, deciding it must be the spec rather than their stacking of haste to ridiculous amounts.

Interesting idea though, I wonder how far you are willing to go to make it work. It also makes me wonder what the stat weights for crit are for you in a 3 target fight..

I prefer an open dialogue for experimental theorycraft. Gives people an entrance point for further discussion if they have any ideas or criticisms.
