[Research] Pets doing more damage than usual.
So, there seems to be an issue with pets of certain players doing more damage than other player's pets. This doesn't just apply to mages, but also to death knights and potentially also other classes.
Some example logs: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/wD ... 84&wipes=1" target="_blank
Rina and Dmages both here have roughly the same stats, yet Rina's pet is hitting ~50% harder with both waterbolt and waterjet. This happens on dummies as well, also after logging out, resummoning the pet, etc.
This doesn't only affect the damage it does, also the hp. A normal naked character will have a pet with ~27-30k hp. If your pet is bugged, it will have like 40k hp. (without any glyphs or talents)
We've so far concluded that it's NOT related to:
- Snapshotting stats when being summoned
- Gender/race/faction
- Whether frost is primary/secondary spec
- Buffs/debuffs
- Water Elemental glyphs
- Talents
Possible reasons:
- Something related with Hellfire Council in HFC. Mainly the damage buff gained from Gurtogg Bloodboil. (Not sure at all)

More background from some DK research into the matter.

According to Magdalena in IRC, the DKs have a theory on cause and have reported it to Blizzard (no clue what their theory is).

Re: [Research] Pets doing more damage than usual.
Well, because it seems to affect all pet classes(Somebody linked hunters too on IRC, but would be nice to have that verified here with logs) we can scrap any talents or other class related abilities/events. That makes some raid/event related bug more likely.
Re: [Research] Pets doing more damage than usual.
A reddit post explained how it's done:

Kuni and I tested it last night, and it works. Dismiss Welly, run into ashran, summon.
Does not work with Mirror Images. Does not seem to work with Temporal Heroes either, but might need more testing.

What do you do after that? I dismiss my pet, run into Ashran, summon, the health is increased, but goes away once I zone out, have tried running in and hearthing out/running out of Ashran manually.

Is this every step? The health goes back to normal about 10 seconds after walking out of Ashran.
edit: the reddit post is deleted
Re: [Research] Pets doing more damage than usual.
It might have been hotfixed?
Re: [Research] Pets doing more damage than usual.
Does not seem to be the case. My Water Elemental is still supercharged. It might have been hotfixed?
What is the "normal" amount of health you're seeing? What is it hitting for?Is this every step? The health goes back to normal about 10 seconds after walking out of Ashran.
Re: [Research] Pets doing more damage than usual.
Normal is about 259k at 718 ilvl for me, when I run into ashran its 350k, seems to hit for about the same even when the health is buffed for me ( if I maintain combat and look at my pet, the health stays but as soon as I put it on passive after zoning out it goes back )
Bolts hit for 4900-5800~ regardless.

Re: [Research] Pets doing more damage than usual.
Sounds like your pet had the buff without you knowing. At ilvl 703 my pet was at about 170k when I walked into Ashran that jumped to about 340k and then dropped down to about 255k once I got out.
Re: [Research] Pets doing more damage than usual.
Well my pet having 260k~ is just due to the water ele glyph, it has 192k without it.
Re: [Research] Pets doing more damage than usual.
Well its been fixed. While you can still go in and bug your pet resummoning your pet now resets it, loading into an instance resets it, using your hearthstone or taking a summon/port resets it, logging out and back in also resets it.
