@x1xruex1x
Thx for replying.
As for real fight vs simmed dummy i can't totally agree with your statments.
If i can find a high performance rotation on ST dummy i can adapt it on each fight.
Btw i'm looking forward for your logs.
As for RoP+AP it can happen on a starting bloodlust, 2 RoP at AM=2 during the soft burn phase, but i surely need to practice more.
@Vorrum
Thx to you too.
One question: isn't RoP+AP +95%dmg and not only +80? I mean, are those buffs multiplicative and not additive?

Good day ,
I was wondering , since i recently switched from fire to arcane ( much more fun and intensive style of play ) is there any BIS trinket list for arcane , as for 7.1 ? I searched and couldnt find anything relative. I currently run with a "poor" 840 ilvl Naraxxas and a 845 with flat int and mastery stats , because , well , they currently sim best for me....
Thanks

Don't quote me 100% on this as I'm not quite certain, but from what I'm hearing, the Bough of Corruption and I believe Aran's relaxing fire are BIS right now, but again, not certain. I've looked at their abilities and stats, and personally I feel if I got them I'd be ecstatic.
Bough comes from Xavius
Aran comes from Shade of Medivh
Investigate these two and let me know

Also , i cleared Kara twice , with , guess what , no luck in droping the trinket from Medivh .
Maybe i`ll get Bough of Corruption this week hence i havent yet made EN.
Thanks for your reply anyway !

Re: Arcane Mage - PvE - 7.1 - Updated: 11/02/2016
Seems like Bough of corruption is really shitty, look at all the comments on wowhead.
Just got one myself yesterday but haven't got the time to test it yet.
Maybe the Aran's one BiS, if somebody have test it or have logs ?
Currently with Unstable Horrorslime 885, 4~5% dps, even if the slime is a bit annoying, no instant damage.
And with Twisting Wind 880, get buffed and seems pretty nice now 3~4% dps, and I don't really know how we can value 1631 int, but it's of course better than any other secondary stats of other trinkets.
Was playing with a Oakheart's 870 before I replaced it with Twisting wind, seems to have been nerfed a bit and don't have intel on it. Edit : after looking at logs, just an impression, keep doing 5~6% total dps. I don't know if the intel on Twisting wind is better than the 1% dps gain or not...
Logs of a full hm where I switch from Oakheart's to Twisting wind (a lot of fail/rotation, trying things) : https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/HJ ... ne&boss=-2" target="_blank
But.... who knows, these trinkets are the hardest thing to determine

Int is valued higher than mastery so it might be worth it. You could sim yourself to test, but I doubt the profile takes into account the throttle phase.Seems like Bough of corruption is really shitty, look at all the comments on wowhead.

Gourdin & Vorrum,
Definitely an interesting take on the perspective of Trinkets. I for one would have thought that the Bough would be a great item.
So what are the actual arguments (non numeric) between these trinkets all mentioned here?
I've love to see what the perspectives are about the pros and cons to each of these trinkets are.
Sorry, I just haven't had luck with trinkets on getting anything good. I strictly have +Intel & +Mastery ones, nothing fancy.

Arcane trinket comparison.
Don't know how Relaxing Ruby shapes up, it's not included but it is in itself a good trinket I'd say hovering around the top 3-4 positions but that's an educated guess.

So, i've been going through emotions with quite a few trinkets lately, and out of the ones i currently have right now, the only combo that seems to actually do damage is the Shock-Baton(which does roughly 3.8%) and Plaguehive (which does roughly 4.1%) over the course of Heroic Ursoc
The other trinkets i've tested are, from my own calculations and simming, just flat out terrible.
My only hope now is to just try and get a better ilvl'd(or socketed) Shock-Baton

Re: Arcane Mage - PvE - 7.1 - Updated: 11/02/2016
880 Twisting Wind on EN bosses is doing equal damage as 855 Naraxas' Spiked Tongue (socketed) due to hit box size, and also gives me 500 more int. Sim yourself with scale factors turned on to see how much DPS each stat gives you, then add trinket stat DPS with proc DPS to find overall DPS of trinket.Int is valued higher than mastery so it might be worth it. Let's get cracking on figure out the strange case of trinkets as a community!
My asking of everyone who's able to input is this:

Shock-Baton is just SO good, it can proc like 3-4 times in a row, it can crit, it also scales its damage from RoP+AP.
You can also fish out procs with NT, like if you NT a dummy and just stand there, Shock_baton will just fire off whenever it wants, so i suppose by keeping NT up more on a boss, will also increase the damage potential from this trinket,
after 50million damage on a dummy

this time over 100 million damage

I really like this google doc, very useful tool. I suppose I need to drop my heroic plague hive for my 840 shock baton.

*Note* You can get Blink-Momentum from "The Amazing Zanzo" wandering the streets of Dalaran by talking to him and asking to have it again.
That's the old glyph where you blink in the direction you're MOVING, not FACING.
HOWEVER, Displacement now leaves the recall position where you blink TO, not FROM. be aware that this is probably a glitch, but will change blink playstyle

Re: Arcane Mage - PvE - 7.1 - Updated: 11/02/2016
Hello everyone, I'm rather new to mage, as I just leveled it during the prepatch invasion event. My mage is my alt that will end up doing just normal and heroic raids each week as well as mythic dungeons. I enjoy the arcane playstyle, but find myself having a lot of difficulty keeping my quickening stacks up after the first burn phase. Is it even feasible to use Arcane Orb or Overpowered just to simplify the playstyle, or is the DPS drop significant enough to not warrant it? I feel like i am decent at it, but could definitely use some help, especially since a large portion of my time is spent on my main.
Re: Arcane Mage - PvE - 7.1 - Updated: 11/02/2016
@undead
What is your mastery at?
Regarding keeping quickening (LQ low quickening, HQ high quickening)
After your first burn phase, if you use AP then Evo, you could be around 15 or so stacks with full mana.
Your insticts will tell you to keep castings fast as possible.... This will drain your mana and with ap and evo on CD it will force you to barrage,hence drop stacks.
By casting an ab,am,ae every 4,5,5 seconds, throttling; cast just to keep up quickening, will give the mana pool a chance to stabalize. It feels wrong because your casts per min drops significantly.... But an AP RoP all out burn starting at 40 quickening... Feelsgoodman.
NT/SN on CD will lead to more AM Procs. If you cast 2 ams in 12 seconds you can regen a lot. More AMs makes this conserve or throttle phase between LQHQ smoother.
I found 40% plus mastery to be where I could throttle and make it to HQ burns.
With lower mastery you can still burn through LQ. when your done, jump into heavy barage rotations till you can build up enough mana to start stacking Q.
Imo hit the gym; the target dummys. Conveniently placed in the corner of our mage hall, and do 2 -5 minute fights and review your damage meters.
Hope this helps. Wish there was a site like this for my alt

@Undead,
Yes, follow what Kythos posted and you'll be fine. Definitely try to get a good amount of Mastery under your belt as it helps keep the mana regen flowing strong, and in turn you can maintain a higher mana level going into your HQ Burn phase which is vital to pushing damage to offset the low APM (actions per minute) in the throttle phase.

Just so I understand it correctly: in the throttling phase, am I supposed to spam NT on CD to fish for AM procs or do I only refresh it it when it's about to drop?
Re: Arcane Mage - PvE - 7.1 - Updated: 11/02/2016
I tested this on the dummy (without any buffs) over 5 minutes and found this to be a 15% DPS decrease over a standard conserve rotation. 300k DPS aiming for a HQ burn versus 350k DPS doing a standard burn/conserve rotation. In my opinion, while a HQ Burn can double the damage of a LQ Burn, it doesn't outweigh the damage lost in the throttle phase vs a standard conserve rotation.@Undead,

Only refresh it AFTER it drops if You want it to proc AM (it was made this way something like a month ago).Just so I understand it correctly: in the throttling phase, am I supposed to spam NT on CD to fish for AM procs or do I only refresh it it when it's about to drop?
