Also worthy to note that all items over ilvl 825ish have had their stats adjusted by roughly 5% across the board. Therefore, you gained about 5% crit back with this new build I believe according to reports on mmo-cNew PTR Patch is up.
Only FIRE Mage changes I can see are legendary items:
Bindings are up to 275%
Koralon's touch now makes scorch do +350% damage AND guaranteed crit on targets below 30%.
Scorch is now 210% SP vs FBs 200% when under 30%, now to mention the faster cast time.
This makes things really interesting for Koralon's.
There were no spell changes.

Re: 7.1.5 PTR Notes
Wouldn't Scorch be 250% SP compared to FB 175% noncrit 350% crit?
I'm assuming its 250, since the average of a FB noncrit and crit comes to 262.5, and having guaranteed consistent crits is worth the 12.5% SP loss, without even considering the cast time.

Scorch deals 60% SP damage (on PTR).Wouldn't Scorch be 250% SP compared to FB 175% noncrit 350% crit?

Fireball deals 175% SP damage + 9% from the artifact trait = 190.75% SP.
Scorch + belt = 60% * 4,5 = 270% SP and this would be a non-crit.

Re: 7.1.5 PTR Notes
Nope, it's 450%. Because it's 350% EXTRA. Therefor you have the 100% Base + 350% Extra Damage = 450% SumScorch + belt = 60% * 3.5 (350%) =210%, not 4.5 (450%)Scorch deals 60% SP damage (on PTR).Wouldn't Scorch be 250% SP compared to FB 175% noncrit 350% crit?

Re: 7.1.5 PTR Notes
Koralon's Burning Touch - Scorch now also deals 350% extra damage and is a guaranteed Critical Strike below 30% health up from 25%.
It's x 4.5.
60% SP = 100% base damage + 350% extra dmg = 60% SP x 450% = 60%SP x 4.5.

Re: 7.1.5 PTR Notes
Scorch is most definitely now 270% SP and Fireball also was increased from 175% to 200%. Koralon's should be a pretty nice legendary now.

Re: 7.1.5 PTR Notes
so scorch is doing about 200k for a 35,000 SP mage with the belt?
Re: 7.1.5 PTR Notes

Last PTR build vs Current build was a 1% crit gain.
With the new Koralon, I guess it's safe the say Don't Expect more Scorch Changes.
Ice Floes is gone, our mobile DPS is toast.
I hate the legendary system more and more with each passing day.
Re: 7.1.5 PTR Notes
Can someone clarify this. Is scorch getting a baseline buff for the execute range or is it still 60% spellpower without the belt?

Re: 7.1.5 PTR Notes
As far as I understand this, the buff is only for the belt. Scorch itself is not changed, though it was buffed a few iterations before with all the other spells.
Re: 7.1.5 PTR Notes
Quick question for someone who is on the PTR: The tooltip of the belt says that scorch will be a guaranteed crit, but that's not the same as getting extra crit%. Can someone find out what happens if you switch on Combustion?
Re: 7.1.5 PTR Notes
I keep seeing people comparing Scorch and Fireballs when you have Koralon's, and I can't help but notice how the crit aspect is not factoring for people.
Assume a 60% crit rate on sheet (HIGH for 7.1.5)
Fireball's would effectively be (0.4 * 200) + (0.6 * 400) = 320% SP (averaged out to 320% of SP)
Scorch would be 60 * 4,5 * 2 = 540% of SP.
FB: 320 / 1.7 = ~188% SP / second
SC: 540 / 1.3 = ~415% SP / second
Scorch would be 2.2x more damage during execute, compared to Fireball. Plus you pitch perfectly as far as Pyroblasts are concerned (since every non pyro spell will crit).
Is Koralon's the new BiS legendary, by a huge margin?

Re: 7.1.5 PTR Notes
100% crit AND 350% of damage is a new thing in PTR build. Your calculations are a bit off, but the point still stands - it's a pretty strong legendary as of this build.I keep seeing people comparing Scorch and Fireballs when you have Koralon's, and I can't help but notice how the crit aspect is not factoring for people.
Quick correct:
Fireball has Artifact traits that buff it, Unstable Magic buffs fireball by 12.5% on average, and it works with Kindling.
Scorch would be 60 * 3,5 * 2 = 420% SP
Don't get me wrong, Koralon's looks leggit now.
Re: 7.1.5 PTR Notes
I think it's a 4,5 mod, not 3,5. It reads 350% additional damage. That would be a 4,5 modifier, not 3,5.100% crit AND 350% of damage is a new thing in PTR build. Question: Does anyone know of a good way/a dummy somewhere that I could bring into execute phase on the PTR to test this out empirically?

Re: 7.1.5 PTR Notes
You can try it in WotLK at the Coliseum. There are some Dummies in the Backyard that you can bring down to 1 HP. Of Course you do more DMG on them because of the Level-Gap. But for comparing skills or gear it's fine.
Re: 7.1.5 PTR Notes
As someone who has had bad legendary luck and has the belt, I'm pretty excited.
If casting scorch is better than fireball for 30% of the boss, I'm betting cinderstorm would be the preferred talent since scorch doesn't contribute to kindling. I'm also excited for the almost permanent mobilty sub 30%, while the belt sucks on live I made heavy use of it during our first cenarius kill. If there are more fights where things get hectic at the end, the value of the belt just increases more.
Ultimately I like the direction on the legendary. On live, its a utility legendary since it gives mobility but is arguably a dps loss. The buff will make it good in some situations, really good in some situations, and useless in some. Even if the belt isn't BIS, it's no longer a disappointment like it has been up to now.

Re: 7.1.5 PTR Notes
I think you don't want to cast CS in execute to not drop PI stacks. Because with the belt you can get 4 stacks before pyroing and with a bit of luck not drop them if both pyros crit. I'm referring to the rotation suggested it the neighbour tread.
Thus, if you don't want to cast it for 30% of the fight, it is greatly devalued. On the other hand, kindling is devalued too. And before certain amount of crit, there is not that big of a chance do get both crits from pyros.

Re: 7.1.5 PTR Notes
Remember PI is nerfed a lot so it's not that huge of a deal anymore. But I agree with your point, you prob don't want to cast CiS <30% anyways because Scorch is so strong and you could loose stacks, so last tier talent doesn't really matter with belt. Except scenario when thanks to Kindling you get combustion <30% when you wouldn't get it without.I think you don't want to cast CS in execute to not drop PI stacks.
