Sentinel Trinket + Blizzard on ST ?

if you are dps'ing a single target, is it a dps increase or decrease to hard cast blizzard or freezing rain instant cast blizzard while sentinel trinket is in use?

Correct me if I am incorrect in the comments but it is my opinion that if you have the instant cast blizzard when you do not have a proc in the freezing rain window it is a very slight dps increase to drop blizzard on a single target fight, especially if you have to move.

This is because of two things, one decreasing the cd of frozen orb to line up better with your ebonbolt is big, and if you can time it perfectly you can always have the bonus damage from the 2 set, and secondly if you have to move/are starved of procs on bad rng an instant cast blizzard will do more damage over the duration of the spell than a single frost bolt.

I don't think it is ever a good idea to hard cast it for single target without the legendary belt especially with the sentnal madalian trinket.

After testing a few times hard casting blizzard while the sentnal madalian trinket is being used is not only a single target dps decrease but it also decreased my trinkets damage. I may have just gotten unlucky, but after looking at it, it seems like a sub optimal play style.

So in conclusion I believe blizzard to be a dps decrease even with the trinket on single target unless you are proc starved within the freezing rain window, outside of that I would say using procs and casting your normal rotation should be the best way to go about it.

Do not use Blizzard on single target fights unless you have Zann'esu Journey. It's a DPS loss to use it with Freezing Rain (even with AG) and it doesn't do anything to the Owl trinket.
